Pardon Order did not apply to political prisoners

On May 26, President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to pardon the convicted 220 people.
175 of those pardoned were released from the rest of the penalty.
25 people sentenced to imprisonment were reduced to half of the sentence.
Among those who fall into the pardon are also a French citizen. Teo Clerk Hugo, born in 1986, was sentenced to 3 years in prison in September 2024 on charges of illegal access to the subway in Baku and draw trains to trains. Two people detained in Hugo – New Zealand citizen de-Sant Quentin Ismemel and an Australian citizen Han Paul were fined in the amount of 6,800 manat. The prisoner himself said that Azerbaijan was punished for tensions in relations with France. The French Foreign Ministry also announced the position on his arrest, described what happened as “unfounded and discriminatory.”
Among the pardon, there are a total of 16 foreign citizens. Among them are one of the five Iran and four from Russia, Georgia and Pakistan, as well as one of France, Turkey and Afghanistan.
Chairman of the Coordination Center of Political Prisoners Zafer Ahmadov told Square TV that one was known as such a political prisoner among the pardon.
