Brussels | July 2025 — Journalismfund Europe has opened applications for its Fossil Fuel Grants Programme, which supports cross-border teams of professional journalists and newsrooms investigating the hidden activities of European fossil fuel companies and their allies.
The programme is designed to expose unreported or underreported practices both within and outside Europe. It also welcomes comparative projects addressing policies or operations across two or more regions.
Key Details:
- Total fund available: €60,000
- Grants can cover: working time, logistics, travel, legal and insurance costs, translation, data access, and technology
- Eligibility: Teams of at least two journalists or news outlets from different countries
- Publication requirement: At least two media outlets in two different countries, including one European outlet
Investigative projects must address environmental and fossil fuel-related issues relevant to Europe.
