Azerbaijani Migrants Stage Protest in Germany Against Human Rights Violations

On July 23, members of the Democratic Choice of Azerbaijan (DAS), a civil initiative formed by Azerbaijani political migrants in Germany, held a peaceful protest in front of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) in the city of Nuremberg.

The organizers informed Meydan TV that the demonstration aimed to draw international attention to the ongoing human rights violations in Azerbaijan—particularly the imprisonment of journalists and political activists, and the increasing restrictions on freedom of speech and independent media.

Protesters carried banners calling for the release of political prisoners and the restoration of media freedom in Azerbaijan. During the demonstration, DAS representatives highlighted that the current political climate in Azerbaijan reflects a deepening authoritarian regime and urged the international community to adopt a firmer and more principled stance on the situation.

At the end of the protest, a petition signed by participants was officially submitted to BAMF. Copies of the petition were also sent to relevant German government institutions and international human rights organizations.

DAS representatives emphasized that such protests aim to amplify the silenced voices from within Azerbaijan and foster international solidarity with those who continue to fight for freedom and justice under repression.
